### Can wood fibre be blown on top of existing insulation?
Yes. Loose fill wood fibre can be blown on top of existing mineral wool in the attic. It's a simple and effective way to increase insulation. Ensure the attic structure is vapour-open and ventilated.
### Is wood fibre insulation fire safe?
Rigid boards are self-supporting in fire and are rated Euroclass B-s1,d0. Flexible batts and loose fill are treated with fire retardant. Behind plasterboard, fire resistance is comparable to mineral wool.
### Can wood fibre be used as a wind barrier?
Yes. Rigid wood fibre boards (density 140-270 kg/m³) are a well-documented wind barrier product. They are vapour-permeable, insulating and provide structural rigidity. Hunton and Steico are the most common manufacturers in Scandinavia.
